Connect with an API token

  1. In Sumo Logic:

    1. In Sumo Logic, go to Administration › Account Security Settings › Access Keys (Classic UI: Administration › Security › Access Keys).
    2. Click + Add Access Key. (For a personal key instead, open your username menu and select Personal Access Keys; Classic UI: Preferences › Personal Access Keys.)
    3. Enter a Name, for example Safeguard. Leave Allowed CORS Domains (optional) empty.
    4. Under Scopes, choose Custom rather than Default and select only View permissions.
    5. Click Save to generate the key, copy both the access ID and the access key, then click Done.

Where to find the other values:

    • Access ID: Shown with the access key in the dialog right after you create the key.

Sumo Logic shows the secret only once, so copy it before you leave the page.

Sumo Logic's public documentation does not cover every step.

    Source: sumologic.com, checked 2026-10-07.

The permissions Safeguard needs: View Users and Roles, View Partitions, View Monitors.

  2. On Compliance › Connectors, open Sumo Logic, click Connect, choose API token and fill in:

    FieldWhat to enter
    Access IDRequired.
Access keyRequired. Stored encrypted and never shown again.
    RegionRequired.
  3. Click Connect with token.

Frameworks

Safeguard's automated tests read Sumo Logic and map to the controls below. When a test passes, the result is evidence toward each control it maps to, in every framework listed. It is evidence toward a control, not proof that the control is met on its own.
