Connect with an API token
-
In Honeycomb:
- Sign in to Honeycomb as a Team Owner (only Team Owners can create API keys).
- Select the Environments selector in the navigation menu, then Manage Environments, and select your environment's name.
- Select the API Keys view, then the Configuration view, and select Create API Key.
- In the dialog enter a Name, and under Permissions leave every write/manage permission unticked so the key can only read.
- Select Save and copy the key. Configuration keys can be retrieved from the Honeycomb UI at any time.
Where to find the other values:
- Base URL (optional): Not described on the fetched page (Honeycomb's US and EU instances use different API hosts).
- Account / Org / Workspace (optional): Your Honeycomb team and environment names, shown under Manage Environments.
Record-only connector. Configuration keys are scoped to one environment. The individual permission checkbox labels were not quoted on the fetched page.

Frameworks
Honeycomb publishes no API for what these tests check, so its evidence is an attestation: connect it to record the connection, then attest the result. An accepted attestation counts toward each control below.
| Framework | Evidence | Controls | Tests |
|---|---|---|---|
| SOC2 | Attestation | CC7.2 | 1 |
| ISO/IEC 27001 | Attestation | A.8.16 | 1 |
| HIPAA Security Rule | Attestation | 164.308(a)(1) | 1 |
| PCI DSS | Attestation | 10.4.1 | 1 |
| NIST CSF 2.0 | Attestation | DE.AE-06 | 1 |
These tests are switched on per workspace by the Safeguard team.
