Connect with an API token

  1. In Nutshell:

    1. In Nutshell, go to Setup › API keys (https://app.nutshell.com/setup/api-key) and create a key.
    2. Copy the key and paste it into API key.

Where to find the other values:

    • Email: A Nutshell user's email address; Nutshell uses it as the HTTP Basic username with the API key as the password.

Nutshell's public documentation does not cover every step.

Nutshell's guide gives the page but not the button labels, permission options or whether the key is shown only once. No read-only key type is documented.

    Source: developers.nutshell.com, checked 2026-10-07.

  2. On Compliance › Connectors, open Nutshell, click Connect, choose API token and fill in:

    FieldWhat to enter
    EmailRequired.
API keyRequired. Stored encrypted and never shown again.
  3. Click Connect with token.

Frameworks

Safeguard's automated tests read Nutshell and map to the controls below. When a test passes, the result is evidence toward each control it maps to, in every framework listed. It is evidence toward a control, not proof that the control is met on its own.
